Effexor and natural herbs?

Is there any danger on mixing effexor and natural suplements like ginkgo biloba? Is there any website where I can go to rad about it?

Effexor and natural herbs?
Ginko increases the blood flow to the brain. Caution should be used when ever considering using natural supplements while on prescribed medications. St. John%26#039;s wort is definitely not recommended with effexor but ginko should be used with extreme caution because it can potentiate bleeding with certain medications and can interact with certain antidepressants such as MAOIs, phenobarbital, TCAs, carbamazepine, and phenytoins. I would consult your physician whenever considering any type of alternative medicines.
Reply:I am allergic to Effexor XR and it was too bad since it was seeming to work fine until it made me very sick. It is always wise to let your doctor know about any herbs that you are taking. I wasn%26#039;t taking any at the time and once i stopped the medicine and went on something else i was fine. It is smart to be careful with your medicine and herbs. I am taking some herbs for diabetic problems and they seem to help even though i just started and i am giving myself some therapy on my feet. Foot massager and rubbing in a massage oil. It is good to go slow with something new and see how it works for you. I will try to do what works for me. Good Luck and take the time to read up on herbs and other natural ways to help yourself-even certain foods help. You can find books on herbs and also on medications. Type in the words you need information on and you can find many things on the Internet. I hope that one day doctors will learn a way to know more about herbs and be allowed to help their patients using herbs Years ago they did. Not everything was a chemical. Some people body respond better to one thing and another responds better to something else.
Reply:I%26#039;m pretty sure they wouldnt interfere with each other. I was on Effexor 300mg, and took herbal sleeping tablets and anti-biotics all at the same time and I am fine :) you could try calling your pharmacy they are paid to know these things!
